As the 2013 school year draws to a close I find myself reflecting on the past two terms and what has been happening here at school. It has been a busy two terms for the students, staff and community with many events making for interesting times. For the students they have had their normal school days mixed with cross country, Meeanee 7s, Pakowhai Top Town, DOC planting day and the senior camp. For the community they were also able to let their hair down at the comedy night.
All of the events were highlights for me as they served to demonstrate to me the closeness of a rural community and the ability of everyone to get in and lend a hand.
I would like to thank everyone at Patoka School for the work you have done, the effort you have put in and for showing that you have what it takes to be awesome young people. 2014 will be a fantastic year as there are many events to look forward to already.
To the parents and other members of the community – enjoy the festive season and try and have a break. I am looking forward to working with you again in 2014.
To my staff and Kathleen in particular. What an awesome two terms. I want to wish Kathleen all the very best as she heads off to a new school. She will be missed but I am sure that she will continue to keep in touch. To the rest of my staff -thank you for being a great group to work with.
Finally – by congratulations to the Year 8 students. Well done , you have made it and can now head off to high school knowing you are ready for the challenge.
See you all in 2014.
