Mr Bidwell – Teacher/Assistant Principal, Room 3
I have been teaching for absolutely ages and am the ‘oldie’ at Patoka School. I have also taught at ‘Secondary School’ specialising in Science, Physical Education and Outdoor Education. My current interests are music especially trying to teach myself the bass and fooling around on drums, surfcasting at local beaches and of course riding my motorbike. I love working at Patoka School.
Mrs Dawson – Teacher, Room 2
Mrs Dawson teaches in Room 2 on Wednesday-Friday. She is currently in charge of organising the vast number of sports teams that we have in our school. If you look around the school you will also see many examples of the influence that Mrs Dawson has on our school with the colourful art work in the rooms and the art works in the playground.
Mrs Lorentz - Teacher, Room 2
Mrs Lorentz teaches in Room 2 on Mondays and Tuesdays. She has moved to the Hawkes Bay from Hamilton with her family. Mrs Lorentz has a varied teaching background and has also led PE and Sport in her previous school. She is new to our team in 2017 and we welcome her.
Mrs Field - Teacher, Room 1
Mrs Field has also joined the team in 2017 and has worked in a variety of schools in the Hawkes Bay. She is a junior school specialist and feels passionate about the children and helping them to reach their potential. She is working full time in Room 1.
Mrs Huggins – Teacher/Principal
Mrs Huggins has worked in schools around the world and just loves the varied and complex job of a Principal. The thing that motivates her the most is seeing the children grow and be nurtured into the best versions of themselves. She has a love of IT and Literature. This year Mrs Huggins is working with groups of students from across the school, in a variety of programmes to extend, support and enrich their lives. She will be taking students on sporting competitions, entering our students into robotics and literature competitions, team teaching in each class to enable our students to enter the Digiawards. This year we have officially become an Enviroschool, so Mrs Huggins is creating a team to lead our school through this wonderful process. It is an exciting opportunity and one that means each day is fast paced and changing.
Mrs Turner – Teacher Aide
I am the Teacher Aide. I specialise in either making students VERY grumpy because I’ve taken them away from their favourite subject, or VERY happy because they can escape the dreaded classroom. I have even been described by one as worse than a trip to the dental nurse (opps, bad day ha….) whilst others are lining up to come.
Mrs Hartree – Office Administrator
I can claim the title for having been at Patoka School the longest and have even seen my own children go through the school. I am the person the children go to when they need all those pencils and rubbers. You can also find me in the kitchen preparing those yummy pies.
Patoka School is a fantastic school and I feel very privileged to work here with such a great group of people.
